dc.description.abstract Inhibiting poverty has been remaining one of the most crucial challenges for a developing country like Bangladesh since its independence. Regarding this challenge, a number of programmes and policies are initiated by the government to intermit the deleterious impacts of poverty on both social and economic lives of the people as well as the country. I used mixed method such as qualitative and quantitative methods for collection of data. This paper examined the role of Social Safety Net Programmes in poverty reduction of Bangladesh. This study mainly helped to evaluate the efficacy of these programs in rural level since majority of the poverty-stricken population belong to rural areas. The findings of the study revealed the limitations of existing policy and programs which impede the proper implementation of these programs. Furthermore, the findings of the study would benefit the policy makers and authorities to take effective initiatives for the betterment of the beneficiaries as well as to reach the goal of poverty alleviation. en_US
