Dhaka University 99th Annual Report 2019-2020

Abstract

The Dhaka University Annual Report is published every year as a brief documentation of all the activities of the university, its affiliated and constituent colleges, and its institutes. It showcases the academic and administrative works, and research activities of all the faculties, departments, institutes, research centers/bureaus, constituent and affiliated institutions, residential halls and offices. All information hasbeen accumulatedfrom different offices of the university, so the annual report becomes a veritable wellspring of research materials pertinent to the university, and a guideline per se for taking administrative decisions for the future. This year, the University of Dhaka is publishing its 99th annual report . It spotlights the academic and research activities, seminar, workshop, cultural and sports events etc. of 2019-2020 academic session.There are also some important photographs that reflect the flurry of academic, administrative and research activities of the university during the academic year. A list of martyrs (teachers, officers and employees) who laid down their lives for the Independence of the Nation during the Liberation War in 1971 has been included at the appendix, keeping in focus their contributions to Bangali nation building, on the eve of the centenary celebration of the university. Most of the departments, institutes, halls and offices have followed the rules of the Editorial Board in preparing the Annual Report, and turned in their reports with exemplary promptitude. I thank them for all their hard works to put together this thick book of the university‘s Annual Report. But there were some others who sent in their respective reports rather late and only after several reminders. Therefore, we could not unfortunately allocate adequate time to edit these reports properly and to compose them according to the format on which we had agreed. And yet I appreciate their hard works that went into the preparation of the compilation. One of the exciting aspects of this year‘s annual report is its English version. We have worked hard to bring out an abridged English version of the report that accompanies the report in Bangla. The English version may be seen on the university‘s website, and is now available in DVD. I take this opportunity to express my sincerest thanks and gratitude to the teachers, the members of the Editorial Board and the concerned officials of the Public Relations Office for working in earnest to collate information, edit and publish the Annual Report on time.
